Nosara Heartwaves
About Nosara, From
Frommers Guide to Costa
Rica:
“because most of the land near
the beach has been zoned
primarily as a residential
community, Nosara has been
spared the sort of ugly
uncontrolled growth
characteristic of many other
Guanacaste beaches….There’s
none of the hotel-piled-on-top-
of-hotel feeling that you get at
playas Flamingo, Tamarindo
and Coco.  In fact, on arriving
here, it’s hard to believe there
are any hotels around at all.
Nosara has long been popular
with North American retirees
and a handful of Hollywood
celebs, and they, too, have
made sure that their homes are
not crammed cheek-by-jowl in
one spot.  Hiding them instead
among the profusion of trees
that make Nosara one of the
greenest spots on the Nicoya
Peninsula.  If you’re looking for
reliably sunny weather and a bit
of tropical greenery, this is a
good bet.”
About Nosara

Nosara is an area that includes three beaches, Nosara Beach,
Pelada Beach, and the best of all, Guiones Beach, where our
houses are located, which is a 6 Km stretch of unspoiled beach
known by surfers for its consistent breaks.  It is an ideal spot for
beginners as well, with its sandy beach breaks.  Lessons and
board rentals are readily available.

The Nosara Civic Association, more than 30 years old, has
protect this pristine environment from the type of
over-development seen in other beach communities in
Guanacaste.

The Oduber Airport at Liberia (LIR) is served by American, USAir,
Delta, United, Air Canda and Continental airlines and is a little

Directions:

An online map is available here

From the Liberia airport, turn right onto hiway 21 as you leave the
airport and follow to
Nicoya, about an hours drive.
There, leave hwy. 21 and turn right and go straight through Nicoya
town center.  There are two banks with ATMs, and large grocery
stores, the Maxi Bodega, Pali and SuperCompro. Continue about
30 Km, watching for one-way bridges marked with CEDA or Yield
signs designating right-of-way.  Look for the only gas station on
left.  (You may want to fill up here, your last chance at a regular
gas station)
Immediately past gas station, turn right onto an
unpaved road, marked with signs for Nosara.  Drive about 20
kilometers or 12 miles to Playa Guiones.  The village of Nosara is
3 miles further.  Look for the Nosara Yoga Institute on the left.  To
find Heartwaves, turn left past the Yoga Inst., and stay left at the
fork.   Go past Color Champagne cabinas and you will see our
houses on the right, with landscaping, stone walkways and blue
tiled infinity-edge pools.  We live in the last one.

The shortest route
driving from San José is: Hiway 1
(PanAmerican) North from airport past exit for Puntarenas looking
for sign to the Puente de Amistad, the new bridge over the
Tempisque river.  Then follow signs on to Nicoya. From Nicoya,
follow the directions above.
The new San Jose-Caldera toll road
may cut 90 minutes off the normal
5 hour trip, check for directions
from your rental car agency.
